- Hafjell and Kvitfjell
Hafjell and Kvitfjell are located 15 kilometers from Lillehammer. Kvitfjell is known as a winter paradise for ski enthusiasts, with ski trails of every skill level. These two cities offer restaurants, areas for children, hotels, cafes, shuttle buses, and gondolas. If you visit with your children, they can learn to ski at the Junior Ski Patrol.
Although Geilo is the oldest ski resort in Norway, it also offers summer activities. The ski season in Geilo goes from late October to late April. There are downhill, cross-country, and snowboarding trails, with slopes for beginners and expert skiers. Many children’s activities are also offered, both for indoors and outdoors. There are several ski areas in Geilo, including Geilolia, and Geilo Toubane. If you don’t want to bring skis with you, there are ski rentals. There are 550 kilometers of cross-country trails, going through valleys and mountains. The cross-country season goes from October/November until May.
Kongsberg is a town located at the southern end of the traditional region of Numedal, and is known for many great ski jumpers. This area offers a mixture of easy, medium, and challenging slopes.
Norefjell is a high mountain area in Norway. This area has both early morning skiing or night skiing. The ski resort offers several different types of lifts and slopes for all skill levels, including children and beginners. There is also cross-country skiing. Besides skiing, there are other fun activities such as luge, dog sledding, sleigh rides, and indoor climbing. The best time for skiing here is from December to April.
Hovden is the largest ski resort in southern Norway. This resort has both downhill and cross-country skiing with total of 170 kilometers tracks with various difficulty levels. Hovden also has a ski school for beginners. Hovden has many non-ski activities as well, including a pool with water slides, Jacuzzis, and an ice rink. These activities are great for children and childcare is also available.
